Public Health
Using social media and online data for public health surveillance -- tracking COVID-19 discourse, vaccine attitudes, substance use, cardiovascular risk, and health behaviors at population scale.
We leverage large-scale digital data for real-time public health monitoring and surveillance, partnering with state Departments of Health and the World Bank Group.
Key areas:
- COVID-19 discourse tracking and mental health monitoring during the pandemic
- Vaccine acceptance and hesitancy analysis across populations
- Substance use and opioid crisis monitoring
- Cardiovascular risk stratification from social media
- Population-level health behavior assessment
This work is supported by multiple NIH grants and has been implemented with partners including state health departments.
